$2 Homemade Frozen Pizzas
Delicious homemade frozen pizzas that are budget-friendly and customizable with your favorite toppings, perfect for busy nights!
Ingredients
For the pizza base
- 10 pieces Greek pita bread (thick round flatbreads, 25cm / 10" diameter) Use thick pita for best results.
For the toppings
- 250 g salami, sliced and chopped
- ¾ cup sliced black olives, drained
- 1 large green capsicum / bell pepper, sliced
- 1 large red onion, chopped
- 15 medium mushrooms, sliced (about the size of a golf ball)
- 400 g shredded mozzarella cheese
- 300 - 350 g shredded Monterey Jack
For the sauce
- ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 800 g crushed canned tomato
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- ½ cup water
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 tsp red chili flakes Adjust to taste.
- ¾ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
Make the sauce
- In a large pot, heat the extra virgin olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and water.
- Add the dried oregano, dried thyme, red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper.
- Let the sauce simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare the pizzas
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Take the Greek pita bread and lay them out on a baking sheet.
- Spread a layer of the sauce on each pita.
- Distribute the salami, black olives, green capsicum, red onion, and mushrooms evenly over the pizzas.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and Monterey Jack cheeses.
- Bake in the oven for about 10 to 12 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
Notes
These pizzas pair wonderfully with a simple salad or garlic bread. To store, let them cool completely before wrapping in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Freeze for up to 2 months.
