  • 1 lb ground beef 85 percent lean works well
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp mustard powder optional
  • ¼ tsp salt or to taste
  • black pepper freshly ground, to taste
  • cooking oil spray for the basket and the meatballs

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 380 degrees F for about 5 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, mix the beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, mustard powder, salt, and pepper just until combined.
  • Lightly oil your hands and roll the mixture into 12 evenly sized meatballs, each about a heaping 1/8 cup.
  • Spray the air fryer basket with oil, add the meatballs in a single layer, and spray the tops lightly.
  • Air fry at 380 degrees F for 8 minutes, then turn the meatballs and spray lightly again if they look dry.
  • Cook for 2 to 4 more minutes, until the center reaches 160 degrees F on an instant-read thermometer.
  • Rest for a couple of minutes, then serve on toothpicks, with sauce, or over pasta.

Notes

Makes 12 meatballs, 3 per serving. Refrigerate within 2 hours and eat within 3 days. Reheat leftovers to 165 degrees F. Nutrition is an estimate.
