Ingredients
  

For the apple filling

  • 4 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 cup water

For the taco shells

  • 6 pieces flour tortillas
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup sugar-cinnamon mixture

Instructions
 

Preparation of apple filling

  • In a saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and water.
  • Cover and simmer over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring often, until the apples are tender.
  • Mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 3-4 tablespoons of water, then add this to the apple mixture and cook until it thickens.

Preparing taco shells

  • In a skillet, heat oil over medium heat.
  • Fold each tortilla in half and fry for a few seconds. Brown the tortillas on both sides until golden, then sprinkle them with the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • Fill the tortillas with the apple mixture, top with whipped cream, and sprinkle with additional sugar-cinnamon mixture.

Notes

Serve Apple Pie Tacos warm for the best flavor. You can experiment with different toppings like caramel sauce or nuts.
