Preparation

  • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the ground beef into the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula.
  • Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes, stirring often to ensure even cooking.
  • Drain any extra fat and add the tomato paste, cumin, and chili powder to the beef.
  • Mix well and let the flavors combine over low heat for an additional 5 minutes.

Creating Taco Shells

  • Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F for frying taco shells.
  • Using tongs, carefully add corn tortillas to the hot oil and fry for about 30 seconds on each side until golden.
  • Drain cooked shells on paper towels to remove excess oil.

Assembling Tacos

  • Layer seasoned ground beef onto each taco shell.
  • Top with your choice of sautéed onions, jalapeños, cheese, cilantro, and other desired toppings.
