Main Ingredients
- 8 mozzarella string cheese sticks cut in half to make 16 pieces
- 8 oz cooked ground beef crumbled
- 4 strips cooked bacon finely crumbled
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
Cooking
Heat. Set the oven to 400 degrees F and cover a rimmed sheet pan with parchment.
Season. Mix the beef with the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and pepper, then stir in the bacon.
Cut. Cut each cheese stick in half and set the pieces on their sides on the pan, one inch apart.
Top. Pack a spoonful of the beef mixture over each piece to form a firm mound.
Bake. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until the cheese is soft and bubbling at the edges.
Rest. Rest for 3 minutes, then lift off with a spatula and serve warm.
Substitutions: Use ground turkey cooked to 165 degrees F in place of the beef, and turkey bacon in place of pork bacon.
Tips: Press the beef and bacon dry on paper towels and bake on parchment so the melted cheese releases cleanly.
Storage: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to three days and reheat at 350 degrees F until hot at 165 degrees F.
