Main Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef 93 percent lean
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 6 bacon slices cooked and crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Cooking
Heat the oven. Heat to 375 degrees F.
Mix. Combine the beef, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
Fill. Flatten a small portion, add bacon and cheddar to the center, and fold the beef around it into a ball.
Bake. Place on a baking sheet and bake 20 to 25 minutes until the beef reaches 160 degrees F.
Serve. Serve warm with ketchup, mustard, or barbecue sauce.
Substitutions: Pepper jack or Colby jack can replace the cheddar, and lean ground turkey can replace the beef when cooked to 165 degrees F.
Tips: The bacon and cheddar add enough salt, so no extra salt is needed, and chilling the formed balls helps them hold their shape.
Storage: Refrigerate for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months and reheat at 350 degrees F until heated through.
