Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced Can substitute with sirloin or skirt steak.
  • 4 cups broccoli florets, chopped Fresh or thawed frozen.
  • 2 tbsp oil For stir-frying (vegetable or canola oil recommended).
  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce Substitute with tamari for gluten-free.
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch To thicken the sauce.
  • 1 tbsp sugar For sweetness.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Freeze the flank steak for 30 minutes before slicing to make cutting easier.
  • Thinly slice the beef across the grain.
  • Chop broccoli into florets.

Cooking

  • Heat oil in a large skillet or cast-iron pan over high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the sliced beef to the pan and sear for 30 seconds without moving to develop caramelization.
  • Stir-fry the beef until browned and nearly cooked through, then remove from pan.
  • Add broccoli and stir-fry briefly before adding the sauce mixture.
  • Combine soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, garlic, and ginger in a bowl, then pour over the broccoli and beef.
  • Toss to combine everything and cook until broccoli is crisp-tender and sauce thickens.

Notes

Serve with steamed white rice, brown rice, or in tortillas. Top with chopped green onions or sesame seeds for extra flavor.
