Main Ingredients
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp table salt
Cooking
Mix. Stir all the spices together in a bowl.
Brown the beef. Cook 1 lb ground beef until no pink remains and it reaches 160 degrees F, then drain the fat.
Add seasoning. Stir in the full batch with 1/3 cup water.
Simmer. Cook over low heat until the water evaporates and the beef is coated.
Serve. Spoon into taco shells or tortillas with your favorite toppings.
Substitutions: Use regular paprika instead of smoked paprika, or ground turkey in place of beef (cook to 165 degrees F).
Tips: Double the batch for 2 lb of meat. Add cayenne for more heat.
Storage: Keep extra dry mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for several months. Refrigerate cooked meat for 3 to 4 days.
