Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak or sirloin thinly sliced
  • 2 –3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ cup water
  • Cooked rice for serving (optional)

Instructions

  • Make the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, water, garlic, and ginger.
  • Cook the beef: In a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, heat oil. Add beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  • Steam the broccoli: In the same skillet, add a splash of water and broccoli. Cover and steam for 2–3 minutes until tender-crisp.
  • Combine and simmer: Return beef to the skillet. Pour in sauce and cook for another 2–3 minutes, until sauce thickens and beef is cooked through.
  • Serve: Serve hot over steamed rice.
