Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder

For the Blackberry Filling

  • 2 cups Fresh or Frozen Blackberries If using frozen, thaw and drain excess liquid

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • Measure and gather all ingredients.

Making the Crust and Crumble

  • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and baking powder.
  • Add the softened butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Reserve about one cup of this mixture for the crumble topping.

Creating the Blackberry Filling

  • In another bowl, toss blackberries with brown sugar and a bit of flour to sweeten and bind them.
  • Spread the blackberry mixture evenly over the crust in the baking pan.
  • Top the blackberry layer with the reserved crumble mixture.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the berry filling is bubbly.

Cooling and Serving

  • Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

These bars can be served with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
