- 2 pie crusts store-bought or homemade
- 4 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
- 1 tablespoon butter cut into small pieces
- 1 egg for egg wash
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a large bowl, mix blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and cinnamon (if using).
Roll out and place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate.
Pour the blackberry mixture into the crust and dot with butter.
Cover with the second crust, crimp the edges to seal, and cut small slits for ventilation.
Brush the top crust with egg wash for a golden finish.
Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the crust is golden and filling is bubbling.
Let cool for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the filling to set.
