Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean beef for less grease.
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Optional for added flavor.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese You can experiment with different types of cheese.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef with the diced onion and garlic over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  • In a bowl, whisk together milk, flour, eggs, baking powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  • Spread the cooked beef mixture in a greased pie dish.
  • Pour the batter over the beef mixture and top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the top is golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze individual slices wrapped tightly in plastic wrap.
