Ingredients
  

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef You can use turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • 8 oz elbow macaroni Approximately 2 cups dry.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Approximately 1 cup.
  • 2 cups shredded cheese Use cheddar or American cheese.
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pickles, mustard For serving.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent.
  • Stir in the elbow macaroni, ketchup, and beef broth. Bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 12-15 minutes or until the pasta is cooked al dente.
  • Stir in the shredded cheese until melted and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve warm, and top with optional pickles and mustard if desired.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave, adding a splash of beef broth or water if needed to maintain creaminess.
