Chocolate Caramel Peanut Butter Pretzel Bars

Ingredients
  

For the crust

  • 2 cups mini pretzels, crushed
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup creamy peanut butter

For the filling

  • 1 ¼ cups powdered sugar

For the caramel layer

  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

For the chocolate topping

  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 1/2 cup of the peanut butter. Mix until fully incorporated.
  • Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a lined 9×9-inch pan to form a firm crust.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 1/2 cup peanut butter with the powdered sugar until smooth. Spread this mixture evenly over the pretzel crust.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel candies and heavy cream. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth and melted.
  • Pour the caramel over the peanut butter layer, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  • Melt the chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler until smooth. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread it evenly.
  • Place the pan in the refrigerator for about 1-2 hours, or until set. Once firm, cut into squares and serve!

Notes

For a special touch, drizzle extra melted chocolate or caramel over the top before serving. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about one week, or freeze for up to three months.
