  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
  • 1 batch Tangzhong from above

For the Cookie Dough Filling

  • 8 tablespoons 8 tablespoons unsalted butter Room temperature
  • ½ cup 1/2 cup light brown sugar Packed
  • cup 1/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large 1 large egg Room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 ¼ cups 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips

For the Glaze

  • 4 tablespoons 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Room temperature
  • 1 ounce 1 ounce cream cheese Cold
  • 1 cup 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons 3 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract

Instructions
 

Making the Dough

  • Start by mixing the warm water, instant yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for a few minutes until it foams.
  • Add the flour, salt, heavy cream, milk, egg, and vanilla.
  • Knead until it forms a smooth dough. Let it rise until doubled in size.

Making the Cookie Dough Filling

  • In another bowl, cream together softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  • Add in the flour, salt, baking powder, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and mini chocolate chips until combined.

Baking the Rolls

  • Roll out the cinnamon roll dough into a rectangle.
  • Spread the cookie dough filling evenly on top.
  • Roll it up tightly and slice into rolls.
  • Place the rolls in a baking dish, cover, and let rise again.
  • Bake until golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm for the best taste. Drizzle with powdered sugar glaze for extra sweetness. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days.
