Main Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, softened Microwave for 10 seconds if in a rush
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced Increase amount for more garlic flavor
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard Do not substitute with old yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • a pinch red pepper flakes Add more for extra heat
  • Salt and cracked black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: chives, thyme, tarragon Feel free to substitute or add other herbs

Preparation

  • Soften your butter.
  • Load up with all the fresh, finely chopped herbs and crushed garlic.
  • Squeeze in the lemon juice, add Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes, smoked paprika, and a bit of salt and black pepper.
  • Mix everything together gently to avoid overmixing.
  • Spread or melt as desired. Optionally, roll it into a log and refrigerate, or store in a small bowl.

Notes

If the butter starts to set in a cold kitchen, microwave it for five seconds to soften.
