  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg Bring to room temperature for better mixing.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Feel free to experiment with other extracts.
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour For gluten-free version, use gluten-free flour blend.
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and cream cheese until creamy and smooth.
  • Add the granulated sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
  • Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a dough forms.
  • Scoop small portions of dough and roll them into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Press gently with a fork or the bottom of a glass to flatten slightly.

Baking

  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Let cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve warm or at room temperature. Decorate with icing or powdered sugar for a festive touch. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
