Ingredients

  • 1 zest Zest of 1 lime
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 pinch Kosher salt

Drink Ingredients

  • 8 leaves Fresh mint leaves Muddle gently to release oils.
  • 5 Blackberries Use fresh for best flavor.
  • 1.5 ounces White rum (or coconut rum)
  • 1 Lime (juiced) Freshly squeezed is preferred.
  • 2 ounces Cream of coconut ΒΌ cup.
  • Ice For serving.
  • Soda water For topping.
  • Mint sprigs For garnish.
  • Lime wheels For garnish.

Instructions
 

Prepare the Sugar Rim

  • Combine the lime zest, sugar, and salt on a shallow plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glasses, then dip into the sugar mixture.
  • Fill the glasses with ice.

Mix the Drink

  • Lightly muddle the mint leaves and blackberries in a cocktail shaker.
  • Add the white rum, lime juice, cream of coconut, and ice to the shaker, then shake well.

Serve the Cocktail

  • Strain the mixture into the rimmed glasses filled with ice.
  • Top with soda water.
  • Garnish with a mint sprig, a blackberry, and a lime wheel.

Notes

Best served fresh. If you have any leftovers, store the liquid in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Add ice and soda water just before serving for the best taste and texture. You can substitute blackberries with raspberries or strawberries for a different flavor.
