Ingredients

Fries Ingredients

  • 4 large Russet potatoes, peeled (or scrubbed if keeping skins on)
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil (for baking) or enough oil for deep frying
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) if baking.
  • Cut the potatoes into fries and soak them in water for at least 30 minutes.
  • Drain and dry the potatoes thoroughly.
  • In a large bowl, toss the fries with vegetable oil, salt, and minced garlic.

Cooking

  • If baking, spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  • If frying, heat oil in a deep pan and fry the potatoes until golden and crispy.
  • Once cooked, remove from heat and toss with grated Parmesan cheese and chopped parsley.
  • Serve hot.

Notes

These fries are best served hot and can be paired with your favorite dipping sauces. Soaking the fries helps remove excess starch, leading to a crispier fry. For extra flavor, you can add spices like paprika or cayenne before tossing. Make sure to dry the fries thoroughly after soaking to avoid sogginess.
