Ingredients
  

For the Marinade

  • ΒΌ cup soy sauce For marinating the steak.
  • 2 tbsp olive oil For marinating the steak.
  • 3 cloves garlic Minced or crushed for extra flavor.

For the Steak

  • 2 lb round steak Look for well-marbled cuts about 1 inch thick.
  • 1 tbsp salt For seasoning.
  • 1 tbsp pepper For seasoning.
  • 1 packet onion soup mix Adds depth of flavor.

For the Crock Pot

  • 1 cup beef broth To prevent drying and create gravy.
  • 2 medium onions Sliced, for layering in crock pot.
  • 3 medium carrots Sliced, for layering in crock pot.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Trim excess fat from the round steak and pat it dry.
  • Marinate the steak in soy sauce, olive oil, and garlic for 2-12 hours.
  • Season the marinated steak with salt, pepper, and onion soup mix.

Searing

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a light coat of oil.
  • Sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side until a golden crust forms.

Layering and Cooking

  • Layer sliced onions and carrots at the bottom of the crock pot.
  • Place the seared steak on top of the vegetables.
  • Sprinkle dried herbs and garlic over the steak.
  • Pour beef broth into the pot.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours until tender.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or rice to enjoy the rich sauce. You can add other vegetables such as celery for additional flavors.
