Main Ingredients
- 2 glazed yeast donuts sliced in half horizontally
- 4 bacon slices regular cut
- 4 cheddar cheese slices about 1 ounce each
- 2 tbsp maple syrup for drizzling
Cooking
Crisp the bacon. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes until crisp, then drain on paper towels.
Fill the donuts. Layer cheddar and bacon between the donut halves with the glaze facing out.
Toast. Cook over medium low heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side until golden and the cheese is melted.
Finish. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve warm.
Substitutions: Use Colby, Gouda, or white cheddar for the cheddar and thin ham for the bacon.
Tips: Use soft same day donuts and keep the heat low so the glaze does not burn.
Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days and reheat in a skillet until steaming hot, at least 165 degrees F.
