Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup black glutinous rice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup coconut milk
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Banana leaves or parchment paper for lining, optional

Instructions
 

  • Rinse the black glutinous rice thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  • Drain the rice and transfer it to a saucepan with 1/4 cup of water. Cook on medium heat until the rice softens, stirring occasionally.
  • Add sugar, coconut milk, and salt. Stir and cook until the mixture thickens and becomes sticky, about 20–25 minutes.
  • Line a small baking pan with banana leaves or parchment paper, and spread the rice mixture evenly into it.
  • Smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Steam or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until set.
  • Let it cool completely before slicing and serving.
