- 1 cup black glutinous rice
- ½ cup sugar
- ½ cup coconut milk
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ tsp salt
- Banana leaves or parchment paper for lining, optional
Rinse the black glutinous rice thoroughly and soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Drain the rice and transfer it to a saucepan with 1/4 cup of water. Cook on medium heat until the rice softens, stirring occasionally.
Add sugar, coconut milk, and salt. Stir and cook until the mixture thickens and becomes sticky, about 20–25 minutes.
Line a small baking pan with banana leaves or parchment paper, and spread the rice mixture evenly into it.
Smooth the top with a spatula.
Steam or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes until set.
Let it cool completely before slicing and serving.
