- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 3 medium potatoes thinly sliced
- 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup milk
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme optional
- ½ cup sour cream optional, for extra creaminess
Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Cook the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until browned. Drain excess grease and stir in minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
Prepare Sauce: In a bowl, mix cream of mushroom soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme (if using).
Assemble the Casserole: Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Spread half of the ground beef mixture over the potatoes. Repeat with another layer of potatoes and beef.
Add Sauce & Cheese: Pour the soup mixture evenly over the layers. Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Melt the Cheese: Remove foil, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes until bubbly.
Serve: Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Optionally, top with sour cream for extra creaminess.
