  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 1 cup corn syrup (light or dark)
  • ½ cup butter, melted (1 stick)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15 oz)
  • ½ cup cold butter, sliced thin (1 stick)
  • 1 cup water

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly in the bottom of the pan.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk, corn syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract over the pecans. Do not stir.
  • Next, sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the top. Avoid mixing.
  • Dot the top with thin slices of cold butter.
  • Gently pour the water evenly over everything.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly around the edges.
  • Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. For storage, cover and refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days. Reheat individual servings in the microwave for about 20-30 seconds. Tips: Use cold butter for better texture and consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor. You can also substitute different nuts or add chocolate chips for variations.
