Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.25 cups cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 0.75 cups buttermilk (at room temperature)
  • 2 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 0.5 cups melted butter (plus extra for brushing the waffle maker)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the waffle iron and brush it with melted butter.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add the buttermilk, melted butter, and eggs to the flour mixture, and stir until well combined.

Cooking

  • Pour some batter onto the hot waffle iron, making sure it fills all the crevices.
  • Close the lid and bake the waffles until golden brown, or to your preferred level of doneness. Brush the iron with butter as needed between batches.
  • Remove cooked waffles from the waffle maker.

Serving

  • Serve waffles warm, topped with powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, or any toppings of your choice.

Notes

Make sure your ingredients are at room temperature for the best results. Don't overmix the batter; it's okay if some lumps remain. Preheating your waffle iron is crucial for crispy waffles. Experiment with different toppings to find your favorite combination.
