Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1⅓ cups 310 ml milk (or water with a tablespoon of oil or melted butter)​

Instructions
 

  • Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place a baking stone or heavy baking sheet inside to heat.
  • Prepare Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Add Liquid: Gradually stir in the milk (or water and oil mixture) until a dough forms. It's best to mix with your hands for even incorporation.
  • Shape Dough: Form the dough into a flat round loaf, approximately 1½ inches (3 cm) thick. Score the top with a deep cross to aid in even baking.
  • Bake: Place the loaf on the preheated baking stone or sheet and bake for about 35 minutes, or until the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  • Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool slightly before slicing. Enjoy warm with butter, jam, or as a side to soups and stews.​
