  • 3 pieces ripe bananas The spottier, the better
  • cup melted butter or oil Coconut oil can be used for a healthier option
  • cup sugar Can use white or brown sugar
  • ¼ cup applesauce or plain yogurt Acts as the egg substitute
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour Almond flour not tested
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt Regular salt, not fancy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Extra splash if you're feeling adventurous
  • ½ cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips Optional mix-ins

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Mash the ripe bananas in a bowl until smooth.
  • Drizzle in the melted butter and mix well.
  • Stir in the sugar, applesauce (or yogurt), and vanilla until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together.
  • Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and fold gently until combined.
  • Fold in nuts or chocolate chips if using.
  • Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 50-55 minutes.
  • Check with a toothpick; it should come out clean with minimal crumbs.
  • Allow to cool before slicing.

Notes

For a restaurant-style crust, dust the greased pan with flour. If the bread browns too quickly, tent it with foil to prevent burning.
