Equipment

  • Blender
  • Shallow plate for salting the rims
  • Two serving glasses

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz frozen strawberries about 1 cup
  • 1 oz orange liqueur about 2 tablespoons
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice from about 1 lime
  • 2 oz reposado tequila about 1/4 cup
  • 1 oz agave syrup about 2 tablespoons
  • ⅛ tsp kosher salt
  • 8 oz ice about 1 cup
  • 1 tbsp coarse salt for the glass rims
  • 2 lime wedges for the rims and garnish
  • 2 fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

Cooking

  • Rim the glasses. Wipe a lime wedge around each glass rim and press it into coarse salt on a plate, then place the glasses in the freezer.
  • Blend the drink. Combine the strawberries, orange liqueur, lime juice, tequila, agave, kosher salt, and ice in a blender. Pulse for 20 to 30 seconds until thick and smooth with no berry chunks.
  • Adjust the texture. Add 1 tablespoon of water if the mixture is too stiff to pour, or 1/2 cup more ice if it looks thin, then pulse for 10 seconds.
  • Serve cold. Pour into the frosty glasses, garnish with strawberries and lime, and serve within 10 minutes.

Notes

Substitutions: Use blanco tequila, triple sec, or simple syrup in the same amounts. Skip the tequila and liqueur and add 3 ounces of sparkling water for a drink without alcohol.
Tips: Do not drive after drinking alcohol. Pulse in short pops so the mixture stays thick.
Storage: Freeze leftovers in an airtight container for up to 1 week and blend again with a splash of water.
