Ingredients
  

For the Cod

  • 4 fillets cod fillets Fresh or thawed from frozen
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Prevents fish from sticking
  • 1 teaspoon salt To season cod
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper To season cod

For the Garlic Butter Topping

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Softened
  • 2 cloves garlic Minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley For garnish and flavor
  • 1 teaspoon paprika For flavor and color
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice To drizzle over cod

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Thaw frozen cod fillets overnight in the fridge or under cold running water. Pat them dry with paper towels.
  • Remove any pin bones from the fillets using tweezers.
  • Season both sides of the fillets with salt and pepper.

Making Garlic Butter

  • In a bowl, mix together softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and paprika until smooth.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the seasoned cod fillets.
  • Let the cod rest for 10 minutes to absorb flavors.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place the cod fillets in a single layer in a non-stick baking dish.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, checking for doneness—cod should flake easily and reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).

Notes

Serve with roasted asparagus and crusty bread. Customize by experimenting with different herbs like thyme or adding spices to the garlic butter for extra flavor.
