For the Cake

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix Follow package instructions for preparation

Fillings and Toppings

  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • ½ cup shredded coconut Can be toasted for added flavor
  • ½ cup chopped pecans Can be toasted for added flavor
  • ½ cup chocolate frosting
  • ½ cup caramel frosting

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Prepare the German chocolate cake mix according to package instructions.
  • Bake in a 9 x 13 inch pan.
  • Once baked, remove from the oven and while the cake is still warm, poke holes using the handle of a wooden spoon.
  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk and caramel sauce over the top, allowing it to seep into the holes.
  • Let the cake cool completely.
  • Once cooled, top with chocolate chips, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans.
  • Finally, frost with chocolate frosting and caramel frosting.

Notes

Serve chilled or at room temperature. Best enjoyed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top. To store leftovers, cover the cake tightly and keep in the refrigerator for 3 to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
