- ¼ cup all-purpose flour for the filling
- 1 tsp apple pie spice for the filling
- 1 pie crust 9 inch, store-bought or homemade

- ½ cup granulated sugar for the topping
- 1 tsp apple pie spice for the topping

Cooking
Toss. Mix the apples with the sugars and spice, let sit a few minutes for the juice to release, then stir in the flour.
Crust. Heat the oven to 375 degrees F and fit the crust into a pie dish.
Fill. Pour in the apples and juices and level the top.
Topping. Stir the sugars, spice and flour with the melted butter until crumbs form, then sprinkle over the apples.
Bake. Bake 45 to 50 minutes until the apples are soft and the topping is golden, tenting with foil if it darkens.
Cool. Cool on a rack before slicing.
Substitutions: Other baking apples work in place of Golden Delicious. Add chopped nuts to the crumble if you like.
Tips: Add the flour to the apples at the end and press the topping on lightly.
Storage: Keep at room temperature up to 2 days or refrigerate covered 3 to 4 days.
