  • 4 cups cooked green beans Canned works, but fresh or frozen are also acceptable.
  • 1 ⅓ cups crispy fried onions Essential topping for texture.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a casserole dish.
  • In a good-sized bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper.
  • Fold in the cooked green beans and half of the crispy fried onions, ensuring everything is well-coated.
  • Transfer the mixture into the greased casserole dish and bake for about 25 minutes, until bubbly.
  • Remove from oven, sprinkle the remaining crispy onions on top, and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until golden.

Notes

Feel free to customize with different soups or add extra veggies like sautéed mushrooms. For a little kick, consider adding crushed red pepper or hot sauce. If using fresh green beans, blanch them briefly to maintain a crisp texture.
