  • 2 cans (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup Can substitute with chicken soup for variation.
  • ½ cup whole milk Adjust for desired creaminess.
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper Adjust to taste.
  • 3 cups French fried onions, divided Use extra for topping.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spray a 3-quart casserole dish with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, whole milk, and freshly ground black pepper.
  • Stir in the drained green beans and ½ cup of crispy fried onions.
  • Pour the green bean mixture into the prepared casserole dish, spread it out evenly, and top with the remaining fried onions.

Baking

  • Place the casserole in the oven and bake for 20 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the onions are golden brown.
  • Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Delicious with roasted turkey, ham, or chicken. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
