Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 tsp neutral oil vegetable or avocado oil
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water, optional but helps thicken the sauce

Instructions

Cooking

  • Whisk the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, 1 tablespoon water, sesame oil, and garlic powder in a medium bowl.
  • Stir the cornstarch with 2 teaspoons of cold water in a small bowl until smooth and set aside.
  • Heat the oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the turkey and crumble it with a spatula, cooking until browned and no pink remains.
  • Check that the turkey has reached 165 degrees F. Add any vegetables now and cook until crisp-tender.
  • Pour in the sauce and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Stir in the cornstarch mixture and cook for about a minute until the sauce thickens and turns glossy.
  • Remove from the heat and serve over rice or cauliflower rice.

Notes

Nutrition is an estimate for the turkey and sauce only, without rice or vegetables. Refrigerate within 2 hours and eat within 3 to 4 days. Reheat to 165 degrees F.
