Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ medium onion finely minced (about 1/2 cup)
  • cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 ½ tablespoons milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley (optional, or use 1 teaspoon dried)
  • ¼ cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a medium-large mixing bowl, add all the ingredients. Use your hands or a sturdy spatula to mix everything well, being careful not to overmix.
  • Take the mixture and roll it into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter (around 1 tablespoon for each meatball).
  • Place the meatballs on a lightly oiled plate or a lined baking sheet.

Cooking

  • In a skillet: Heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat. Add the meatballs and cook until they are brown on all sides and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.
  • In the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F. Bake the meatballs for about 20-25 minutes or until they are fully cooked.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding minced garlic or Italian herbs. For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef. Make sure your meatballs are evenly sized to cook through evenly.
