Main Ingredients
- 4 frozen boneless skinless chicken breasts about 6 to 8 oz each, separated
- 1 cup chicken broth or water low sodium broth adds flavor
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp paprika
Cooking
Load the pot. Pour the broth into the Instant Pot and add the frozen chicken breasts in a single layer.
Season. Sprinkle the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika over the chicken.
Pressure cook. Lock the lid, close the vent, and cook on high pressure for 12 to 15 minutes, depending on thickness.
Release. Let the pressure release naturally for 5 minutes, then carefully turn the vent to release the rest.
Check the temperature. Insert a thermometer into the thickest part of each breast. It must read 165 F, so cook a few minutes more if not.
Shred or slice. Rest the chicken 5 minutes, then shred or slice it. For a thicker sauce, press Saute and reduce the juices.
Substitutions: Use water if you have no broth, and add any dried herbs you like.
Tips: Separate breasts that are frozen together, and add a few minutes for very thick pieces.
Storage: Refrigerate cooked chicken within 2 hours for up to 4 days, or freeze up to 3 months.
Nutrition does not include the optional sauce made from reduced juices.
