  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed or minced Granulated garlic can be used as a substitute.

Optional Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary For an elevated flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika For extra flavor if desired.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice A splash to enhance taste.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Remove pork chops from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 15 minutes.
  • Season both sides of the pork chops generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.

Cooking

  • Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and have a nice crust.
  • Check the internal temperature, which should reach 145 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Once cooked, remove the pork chops from the skillet and let them rest under foil for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If you prefer, after cooking, you can deglaze the skillet with a splash of apple cider for additional flavor. Don't overcrowd the pan, as this will steam the pork chops instead of searing them.
