  • 2 tablespoons chili powder Seasoning.
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin Seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Seasoning.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Seasoning.
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano Seasoning.
  • 1 ½ teaspoons kosher salt Seasoning.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper Seasoning.
  • ½ teaspoon sugar Seasoning.
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes Optional.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small white onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 pounds lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • ¾ cup low-sodium beef broth

Instructions
 

Cooking

  • Stir the seasoning ingredients together in a small bowl.
  • Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the onion 3 to 4 minutes, then the garlic 30 seconds.
  • Add the beef and cook 7 to 9 minutes, breaking it up, until no pink remains (160°F). Drain the excess fat.
  • Add the seasoning and tomato paste and stir 1 minute.
  • Pour in the broth, scrape up the browned bits, and simmer over medium-low 8 to 10 minutes until reduced and glossy. Adjust the salt.

Notes

Makes about 4 cups (12 to 16 tacos). Refrigerate within 2 hours and use within 3 to 4 days, or freeze up to 3 months. Nutrition is an estimate per serving (about 2/3 cup) of meat only.
