Main ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup You can use pure maple syrup for a richer flavor.
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract You could also use different types of extracts, like almond or maple, for variation.
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

For the icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less maple syrup.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Add the maple syrup, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a dough forms.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden.
  • Let cool before icing with a maple icing made from powdered sugar and maple syrup.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, consider freezing them and wrap well to prevent freezer burn.
