Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds 1.5 pounds salmon Skin-on side of salmon recommended.
  • 2 tablespoons 2 heaping tablespoons Dijon mustard Whole grain or smooth is fine.
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon dried garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon dried onion powder
  • Salt & pepper To taste.
  • 0.25 cup 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon 1 tablespoon butter Sliced.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • Lay out one or two pieces of aluminum foil, large enough to wrap around the salmon.
  • Spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray, then place the salmon skin side down on top.

Topping

  • In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard, brown sugar, and spices. Spread the mixture evenly over the salmon.

Wrapping

  • Fold the foil over the salmon to create a tent, ensuring not to lay it flat on the fish to prevent sticking. Pinch the foil together to seal tightly.

Baking

  • Place the foil packet in the oven and bake for about 15 minutes, or until the salmon is almost done.
  • Carefully open the foil, ensuring that the salmon is nestled inside to avoid spilling the topping. Pour the maple syrup on top and dot with slices of butter.

Broiling

  • Turn on the broiler and broil the salmon for an additional 2-4 minutes, watching closely to avoid burning.
  • Remove from the oven and serve immediately.

Notes

Best served hot and fresh with sides like steamed vegetables, salad, or rice/quinoa. Garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor.
