Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Choose fresh, small turnips that are firm and smooth.
  • Peel the turnips using a vegetable peeler, then cut into 1-inch pieces.

Cooking

  • Fill a large pot with water and add the prepared turnips. Bring to a medium-high heat.
  • Boil turnips until tender, approximately 35 to 45 minutes.
  • Drain the water and let the turnips cool slightly.

Mashing and Seasoning

  • Mash the turnips using a potato masher or hand blender until reaching the desired consistency.
  • Add milk or cream, butter, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • Optional: Stir in any additional optional ingredients for enhanced flavor.

Notes

Store leftover mashed turnips in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. They can also be frozen for longer storage.
