  • 1 pound ground beef or sausage You can use any ground meat preferred.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened Allow to sit at room temperature for best consistency.
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup salsa Mild or spicy, as preferred.
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese blend Can customize with different types of cheese.
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Chopped green onions or jalapeños for topping
  • Tortilla chips for serving

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain any fat that collects.
  • Stir the taco seasoning into the cooked meat and add a splash of water. Let it simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, refried beans, salsa, and garlic powder. Mix until well blended.
  • Add the cooked meat to the mixture and combine thoroughly.
  • Spread this mixture into a greased 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
  • Evenly sprinkle the shredded Mexican cheese on top.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly.
  • Remove from the oven and top with chopped green onions or jalapeños.
  • Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!

Notes

Best served warm. Consider offering extra toppings like salsa or guacamole for customization. To store leftovers, let dip cool and refrigerate for up to three days; reheat before serving.
