- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp ground black pepper
Cooking
Measure. Add the paprika, oregano, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to a small bowl.
Mix. Stir with a fork until evenly combined and scoop into an airtight jar.
Brown the beef. Cook 1 lb ground beef in a skillet over medium high heat until no pink remains and it reaches 160 degrees F, then drain the fat.
Season. Stir in 2 to 3 tbsp of the mix with a splash of water and simmer until the liquid reduces.
Serve. Spoon into taco shells with your favorite toppings.
Substitutions: Use ground chicken or turkey (cook to 165 degrees F). Add a pinch of cayenne for more heat.
Tips: Double or triple the mix and keep it labeled in a jar.
Storage: Keep the dry mix in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate cooked taco meat for 3 to 4 days.
