Ingredients

  • 20 oz cheese tortellini fresh or refrigerated
  • 1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the Tortellini: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook tortellini for about 2 minutes less than package instructions (they will finish baking in the oven). Drain and set aside.
  • Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet, cook ground beef or sausage over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat. Stir in marinara sauce and simmer for a few minutes.
  • Mix the Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine cream cheese, sour cream, ricotta, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  • Assemble the Casserole: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
In a 9x13-inch baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Add half the tortellini, then dollop and spread half of the cheese mixture over it. Add more meat sauce, the remaining tortellini, then the rest of the cheese mixture. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake: Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 10 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  • Serve: Let cool for 5–10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
