Mini Apple Pie Wonton Cups

A delightful twist on traditional apple pie using crispy wonton wrappers filled with warm apple filling and topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients
  

Wonton Cups

  • 18 pieces wonton wrappers Use standard size wrappers.
  • oil spray Oil spray For baking the wonton wrappers.

Apple Filling

  • 5 cups small diced, peeled Granny Smith apples About 1.5 lb / 800g (5 medium apples).
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ⅓ to ½ cup brown sugar Adjust to taste depending on tartness of apples.
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • ¼ cup water
  • pinch salt

Whipped Cream

  • ¾ cup whipping cream (unwhipped)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar Sifted.
  • few drops vanilla essence

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 390°F (200°C).
  • Mould wonton wrappers into a standard-size muffin tin or cupcake trays. Lightly spray with oil.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until crisp and golden. Remove from oven and let cool in the muffin tins.

Cooking Filling

  • In a large saucepan, combine the apple pie filling ingredients and cook over high heat.
  • Bring to a simmer, then lower the heat to medium.
  • Stir occasionally until the apples are softened, about 8 minutes.
  • Ensure there is no liquid left, just a syrupy coating on the apples. Adjust sweetness if necessary.
  • Remove from heat and let cool until warm.

Whipping Cream

  • Whip the cream and powdered sugar together until soft peaks form.

Assembly

  • Spoon warm apple pie filling into the wonton cups and top with a dollop of whipped cream.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Keep filling and wonton cups separate to maintain crispiness. Reheat the filling on the stove before assembling again.
