  • 14 oz smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds
  • ½ medium yellow onion, diced
  • 8 oz pasta (your choice) Penne, rotini, or bowtie work well
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey Adjust based on preferred sweetness
  • to taste salt and pepper For seasoning
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  • In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced sausage and diced onion, cooking until the onion is translucent and the sausage is browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the pasta and enough water according to package instructions to cook it.
  • Stir in the BBQ sauce and honey, mixing well to combine.
  • Cover and let simmer until the pasta is cooked through, about 10-12 minutes.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

This dish can be customized with different types of sausage or BBQ sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
