Equipment

  • rimmed sheet pan
  • Heavy duty aluminum foil
  • Basting brush

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 40 oz baby back ribs one full rack
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce for brushing on the ribs

Instructions

Cooking

  • Prep. Heat the oven to 300 degrees F. Pull the membrane off the back of the ribs.
  • Season. Mix the paprika, garlic powder, brown sugar, salt, and pepper and rub it over both sides of the rack.
  • Wrap. Set the ribs on a foil lined sheet pan and cover tightly with a second layer of foil.
  • Bake. Bake about 3 hours, until a knife slides in easily and the meat pulls back from the bones.
  • Glaze. Unwrap, brush with BBQ sauce, and bake uncovered 30 minutes more. Broil 2 to 3 minutes if you like, then rest before slicing.

Notes

Substitutions: Use country style ribs if you like, though the cooking time may run longer.
Tips: Marinate overnight for more flavor and reheat leftovers wrapped in foil at 300 degrees F to keep them juicy.
Storage: Refrigerate 3 to 4 days or freeze 2 to 3 months.
