  • 4 fillets Fresh cod fillets, 4-5 ounces each Look for fresh, high-quality cod fillets.

For the breading

  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs Adds crunch to the coating.
  • ½ cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese Provides the main flavor for the crust.
  • 1 large Egg, beaten For the egg wash to help the coating stick.

For seasoning

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder Enhances flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon Smoked paprika Adds depth to the flavor.
  • ¼ teaspoon Red pepper flakes For a bit of heat.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Boosts the flavor of the fish.

Preparation

  • Dry the cod fillets with paper towels to help the coating stick.
  • Season the fillets with salt and pepper on both sides.

Breading

  • In one dish, mix the beaten egg.
  • In another dish, combine the Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and red pepper flakes.
  • Dip each fillet first into the egg, then press it into the breadcrumb mixture to coat thoroughly.

Cooking

  • Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Place the breaded fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork.

Notes

For added flavor, try garnishing with fresh herbs such as parsley or thyme, or serve with a squeeze of lemon.
