Ingredients
  

For the pastry

  • 1 package phyllo pastry cups Pre-made phyllo cups for ease.

For the filling

  • 1 cup chopped pecans Pecans can be substituted with walnuts or almonds.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust according to sweetness preference.
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup butter Melted for combining with the filling.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Can be replaced with almond extract for variation.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Honey for drizzling For serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Place the phyllo pastry cups on a baking sheet.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water to make the syrup. Bring to a boil and then simmer for 10 minutes.

Filling

  • In another pan, melt the butter and add chopped pecans, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Cook for 5 minutes until the pecans are fragrant.
  • Fill each phyllo cup with the pecan mixture.

Baking

  • Bake in the oven for about 10-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Drizzle the caramel syrup over the cups and finish with a drizzle of honey.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve the baklava cups warm or at room temperature. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for about a week.
