  • 4 slices slices of bread (white, sourdough, or Italian) Use sourdough or Italian for extra flavor.
  • 1 tbsp butter, softened
  • 100 g mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
  • Pepperoni slices Customize with your preferred amount.
  • Pizza sauce Use your favorite pizza sauce.
  • Parmesan cheese (optional) Grated for serving if desired.

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place one slice of bread, butter side down, in the skillet.
  • Layer with mozzarella cheese, pepperoni slices, and a spoonful of pizza sauce.
  • Top with another slice of bread, butter side up.
  • Cook until the bottom is golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Flip and cook the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
  • Serve hot, optionally with grated Parmesan on top.

Notes

For storage, let the sandwich cool completely and place it in an airtight container in the fridge. Best reheated in a skillet to maintain crispiness. Optionally, serve with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
